Here's the suggested packing list for November through March:

  • good pair of lightweight, waterproof, hiking boots
  • six pairs of padded hiking socks
  • six changes of underwear
  • a hat to shield your face
  • three pairs of hiking pants
  • pair of water-resistant hiking pants
  • medium-weight, water-proof jacket -- hood suggested
  • three or four long-sleeved shirts for hiking
  • two lightweight turtlenecks for hiking that wick away moisture
  • loose-fitting work-out clothes
  • trainers, and socks, for strength training
  • pack to carry your water
  • very casual dinner attire (feel free to wear the same outfit each night :)

We do provide generous amounts of shampoo, soaps, and high-quality sunscreen (50).

Please note that we do not provide medical supplies such as pain relievers or blister pads. There is a pharmacy in the village should a need arise. If you want to avoid blisters, please, please, please, wear-in your new boots before arrival.

If you live in England, here is the best boot-fitter available:
'Dave The Boot': -
Breaking Away
28 Holywell Hill
St Albans
AL1 1BX
01727 833586

It is essential that people book a boot fitting in advance with Dave as he has a long waiting list. He will not sell boots to people if he knows they are going to receive heavy use within 2 weeks of purchase, as they will not have been worn in properly. He adheres strictly to a boot fitter's code of practice.
